Integrative Pathways to Health and Illness
Description: NARRATIVE The public health relevance of MIDUS is its rich contributions to knowledge of how psychological and social experiences in early and middle adulthood matter for later life health and wellbeing. Psychosocial factors are recognized as protective resources as people deal with varieties of adversity, and MIDUS is at the forefront of explaining how they promote resilience by linking them to biology and neuroscience. Importantly, many of these psychosocial factors are modifiable, making them powerful targets for prevention and promotion of positive health among U.S. adults.
