Energy Expenditure and Metabolic Effects through Brown/Beige Adipose Clk2 Kinase
Description: Project Narrative Defective energy expenditure due to thermogenic failures in brown and beige adipose tissues causes a major predisposition for obesity and metabolic complications including type 2 diabetes. Conversely, activation of thermogenic activities in these tissues prevents obesity and improves diabetic symptoms. Studies in this grant proposal focusing on the feeding-mediated activation of the protein kinase Clk2 in brown and beige adipose tissues might translate into potential therapies. 1
