Sabbatical Ralf Krampe: Neuropsychological processes in expert performance and multi-tasking during middle- and late adulthood
Description: Content Sabbatical:1) development of a theoretical framework that brings together general neurocognitive aging as it is typically expressed in domain-general functions (working memory capacity, inhibition, task-set control) with their neural bases in frontal brain regions and the development of acquired, domain-specific skills. 2) data analyses of completed fMRI project (aging and expertise in musicians) complemented by advanced modelling using Linear-Mixed Models. Cooperative partners Prof Nicole Wenderoth (ETH Zurich, Switzerland) and Prof Reinhold Kliegl (University of Potsdam, Germany). Development of a new imaging study building on our current results. 3) Extending previous work on expertise and multitasking. Cooperative partners prof Ulrich Mayr (University of Oregon, Eugene, USA) and prof Karen Li (Concordia University at Montreal, Canada). 4) Extending ongoing empirical work on listening and multi-tasking in everyday settings involving postural control Collaborative partners (prof Astrid van Wieringen, KU Leuven); prof Bettina Wollesen (University of Hamburg, Germany); prof Karen Li (Concordia University Montreal, Canada).
