Where are my grandchildren? Neural signatures of age differences in hybrid visual–memory search
Description: Imagine searching for your grandchildren on a busy playground. This task involves matching what you see (other children) with what you remember (your grandchildren). Our project examines lateralized EEG activity to learn how the brain tackles such real-world challenges as we age. We aim to find out whether older adults can adapt to rising search demands and if brief bursts of alertness (arousal cues) can enhance compensatory brain activity. These insights may lead to new strategies for preserving everyday search abilities and quality of life.
