Mitochondrial Aging Promotes Inflammation

Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE: Mitochondrial Aging Promotes Inflammation The dysregulation of function of the mitochondria and homeostasis mechanisms, such as autophagy and redox, significantly impact aging-associated inflammatory diseases, cancer progression, and cardiovascular diseases. The work proposed in the renewal application will evaluate the inter-regulation between mitoSTAT3 and autophagy(Aim1), NRF2 dependent metabolic reprogramming and signaling (Aim 2) and their mechanistic link to age-associated CD4+ T cell inflammation. The overarching goal is to identify druggable targets to prevent the onset of age-associated inflammatory diseases and improve health span; length of life spent in good health.
