Leveraging Correlated Traits to Identify Genetic Associations with Sleep Disordered Breathing

Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Sleep disordered breathing (SDB) is associated with various physiological, pulmonary, and metabolic traits, such as adiposity, lung function, and glucose control. Despite considerable heritability, identification of genetic variants has been limited by relatively small samples. We propose to utilize traits that are correlated to SDB to improve statistical power and to identify genetically-defined mechanisms of SDB.
