Hemoglobin A1C Variability as a Risk Factor for Diabetes Complications

Description: There is a need to develop new ways to identify and treat patients who are at risk for diabetes complications. We will develop and validate a new quality measure that expresses hemoglobin A1c variability over time, called A1c time-in-range, and will study its relationship to adverse health outcomes. This study advances diabetes care by developing a novel measure that will help clinicians set A1c target ranges for patients in a way that balances benefits and risks.
