The Impact of Obesity on Radiotherapy Anti-Tumor Effects

Description: Narrative Obesity will soon be the leading cause of preventable cancers and a large proportion of cancer patients are obese, but little is understood about how obesity influences the effectiveness of cancer therapy. Clinical studies as well as our pre-clinical data show that obese cancer patients are more resistant to radiotherapy and have higher rates of cancer recurrence. Based on our previous data showing that obesity profoundly impacts tumor biology we will examine mechanisms inducing radiotherapy resistance and how to improve outcomes in obese patients.
