Transcriptional Coordination and Gene Regulation by MED12 in the Cardiomyocyte
Description: Heart disease is the leading cause of mortality worldwide and disruption of transcription in the heart contributes to the progression of heart disease. This application will investigate basic mechanisms of transcription in the heart by determining how transcriptional complexes work and how mutations in these complexes contribute to development of heart disease. Consequently, a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms governing cardiac gene expression will provide new insight into therapeutic strategies to restore cardiac function during disease.
