Unravelling the impact of sex on epigenetic brain aging.

Description: This project will apply state of the art technologies to reveal how sex chromosomes and hormones influences features of the epigenomes, and how this translates to behaviour and cognitive ability. Indigenous research leader A/Prof Taberlay is driving research that inherently resonates with the Indigenous connection between health and land. With experts A/Prof Blizzard and Dr Woodhouse this project focusses upon the neuronal epigenome – which is the molecular interface between the environment and brain cognition. Males and females have different cognitive trajectories throughout life, yet we do not understand why. This new knowledge is vital for facilitating a trajectory of healthy aging for all Australians, especially First Nations mobs.
