Role of LncRNAs in diabetic livers

Description: PUBLIC HEALTH RELEVANCE: While clinical therapies exist, individuals with type 2 diabetes, a growing epidemic that is a major burden on the healthcare system in the US, still display an increase in complications such as neuropathies, nephropathies, and cardiovascular disease. It is therefore imperative to identify novel molecular mechanisms that can be targeted to improve the development of effective treatments. This project will identify such novel mechanisms that function in the development of diabetes which can be therapeutic targets to improve diabetes and its related complications.
