Integrating case-control transcriptomic and genetic data in admixed individuals to identify disease genes for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE This study will reduce health disparities and disease burden that disproportionally affect individuals of Latino ancestry suffering from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. We will develop novel statistical methods and generate gene expression data that specifically apply to the admixed genetic ancestries within individuals of Latino ancestries. The integrative approach will significantly advance our understanding of the biological factors leading to disease susceptibility and provide great opportunity for personalized medicine.
