Neurobehavior, Neuropathology, and Risk Factors in Alzheimer's Disease
Description: Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related dementias affect a growing number of people as the population ages. Currently, nearly 6 million persons in the US have AD; it is estimated that by the year 2050, that number will be 14 million. With this increase in the number of AD patients, there is a corresponding growth in the number of family members and other caregivers affected by this devastating disease, as well as dramatic social and economic costs. The goal of our research training program is to prepare a new generation of investigators to translate mechanistic scientific discoveries into effective tools for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of AD and related dementias.
