Role of necroptosis in inflammation and NAFLD to HCC progression
Description: Project Narrative Non-resolving chronic inflammation is a major contributor to the development and progression of HCC in obesity, yet the source of chronic inflammation in HCC is not known. The purpose of this study is to identify the role of hepatocyte necroptosis in liver inflammation and NAFLD to HCC progression associated with obesity. If successful, the study is translationally relevant because pharmacological agents are currently available that can inhibit necroptosis and could potentially be used to treat/prevent obesity-related HCC progression.
