Dissecting subcellular and cellular organization by spatial molecular neighborhood networks
Description: The proposed research is relevant to public health because it will provide a high-content molecular imaging technology to visualize the molecular neighborhood of hundreds of genes to proteins used to perform widely deployed functions in cells and tissues. Normal cell cultures and tissues will be analyzed by the proposed technology to analyze how molecular neighbors operate in a specific role to affect a single cell's decision in intricate molecular crowds. Mathematical and theoretical analysis of these datasets will provide subcellular localization and neighborhood of protein and transcript molecules and their role in forming viable multicellular biological systems, an emerging spatially resolved subcellular regulation of health and disease.
