Prenatal and Early Childhood Pathways To Health: An Integrated Model of Chemical and Social Exposures, Biological Mechanisms, and Sex-Specific Effects on Neurodevelopment and Respiratory Outcomes
Description: Asthma, allergies, and mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD are among the most common chronic health problems affecting American children. Evidence has increasingly shown that women’s exposure during pregnancy to outdoor air pollution, everyday chemicals such as those used in plastics, and stress can affect fetal development and later child health problems. PATHWAYS will integrate three major cohort studies of pregnant women and their children and bring together a premier interdisciplinary team to learn how pregnancy exposures affect child neurodevelopment and airway health.
