Regulation of tumor recurrence by stress activated neutrophils

Description: Narrative Tumor recurrence is one of the largest clinical challenges in cancer. It is widely accepted that small numbers of tumor cells persist in non-proliferating (dormant) state until cells re-enter the cell cycle, thus originating metastases. The elucidation of the mechanisms, by which tumor cells are reawakened from dormancy, is crucial to achieve eradication of lung cancer. This application will address this problem by studying specific mechanisms regulating dormancy by neutrophils, evaluate their clinical significance and potential therapeutic intervention.
