Targeting cellular senescence with oral fisetin supplementation to improve vascular aging

Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE The risk of developing cardiovascular diseases increases with aging largely due to declines in the function of arteries which are influenced by cellular senescence, a state of nearly irreversible cell cycle arrest. This study will investigate the potential of a novel, natural dietary supplement, fisetin, for treating age-related arterial dysfunction by suppressing cellular senescence. Overall, this research has the potential to identify a new therapeutic strategy – with great promise as a dietary supplement and for the translation to humans for treating and preventing age-related arterial dysfunction and thereby reducing risk of cardiovascular diseases.
