Advanced Methods to Evaluate Extracellular Matrix and Crosslinking in the Tumor M
Description: PUBLIC HEALTH RELEVANCE: Despite the fundamental role that the tumor microenvironment plays in cancer progression, methods to study the underlying molecular mechanisms involved are not available. This work aims to further develop and validate the sample preparation methods necessary to characterize the matrix component of the cellular microenvironment for cancer and biomedical research. Extracellular matrix proteins and the covalent attachment points between them will be characterized so that we may ultimately develop new therapeutic strategies and identify early diagnostic markers of cancer.
