Prospective immune profiling using methylation markers and pancreatic cancer risk
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death in the US and is the most rapidly fatal cancer. Early detection is critical for improving prognosis and survival from this disease given that treatment is purely palliative for patients diagnosed late in the progression of the disease. Studies, including ours, suggest that the immune response plays an important role in carcinogenesis; in this proposal, we propose to use DNA methylation markers to identify immune profiles predictive of pancreatic cancer risk.
