Protection of stressed hematopoietic stem cells by the tetraspanin family member CD53

Description: Project Narrative Inflammation can impair normal hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) function, and can promote the clonal expansion of mutant HSCs. We have identified the tetraspanin family member CD53 as a critical regulator of HSC function in the context of inflammatory stress, and propose to identify the mechanisms by which CD53 regulates both normal and mutant HSCs.
