Defining mechanisms of extracellular succinate regulation over metabolic tissue function
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Liver dysfunction is a major driver of pathology in obesity and diabetes, and we have discovered a new metabolite-driven pathway that appears to be required for exerting these effects. This program will determine the importance of this newfound signaling pathway in preventing obesity and diabetes pathogenesis, and examine mechanisms through which this is achieved. We expect that this will lead to the development of new treatments for metabolic disease.
