The Role of TGF-beta Activation and Signaling in Aortic Stenosis Progression

Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Aortic stenosis (AS) affects many elderly Americans and is an independent risk factor for heart failure, the leading cause of death in the U.S. Currently, the only treatment for AS is invasive and risky valve replacement. The proposed research seeks to better understand the mechanisms of AS progression and to develop urgently needed new diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic approaches for AS.
