Discovering how autophagy is sufficient to extend yeast replicative lifespan

Description: Narrative Aging is the cause of most human disease, including heart disease, neurodegeneration, and cancer. Chemicals, diets, and genetic interventions have been developed to extend organismal lifespan and health span, yet we have very limited knowledge of the molecular mechanisms at play. The proposed work seeks to identify ultimate molecular targets of lifespan extending interventions, that work in all species tested, during yeast replicative aging.
