Theranostics of Photoreceptor-RPE-Choroid Neurovascular Unit in Eye Diseases:
Description: Project Narrative This project will investigate novel diagnostic methods and potential treatment in animal models of twp macular degenerations: the RPE mitochondrial dysfunction model, and the Doyne Honeycomb Retinal Dystrophy model. As a result of this proposal, novel optical methods will be available for translation to diagnose retinal degenerations in human patients, including inherited and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). This study will also continue to lay a foundation for novel locally, light-activated drug delivery in human ocular disease.
