Does Lifestyle Intervention in Obese Older Adults Improve Bone Quality?

Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Obesity is an increasingly prevalent health problem in older adults that affects ability to maintain independent living and satisfaction of life. Although changing life-long unhealthy habits can be successful at reducing obesity, weight loss is not universally prescribed to older persons because of concern about potential harmful effects on bone health. This study will investigate whether lifestyle change resulting in weight loss will preserve or improve the strength of bone and thus, reduce fracture risks in obese, older men and women.
