A novel transcriptome-connectome approach to study the neurogenetic mechanism of nicotine and cannabis addiction

Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Substance use disorders (SUDs) are complex and heritable mental disorders and a serious public health challenge, but the neurogenetic mechanism of addiction remains largely unknown. In this project, we focus on the human brain functional connectome and propose a novel transcriptome-connectome approach by developing novel transcriptome-wide association studies (TWAS) and meta-analysis methods to identify pleiotropic genes associated with both functional connectivity (FC) change and addiction to understand the neurogenetic mechanism of nicotine and cannabis addiction.
