Biobehavioral basis of knee osteoarthritis pain

Description: Project Narrative Our recent cross-sectional findings suggest that chronic pain is associated with multiple biological aging biomarkers where a greater pain burden is associated with accelerated aging processes. Thus, the goal of the proposed study is to determine the brain and bodily aging mechanisms whereby pain prospectively impacts function in aging and whether these are different across racial/ethnic groups. Findings will contribute towards increased understanding of pain and biological aging processes, with the potential to reduce race/ethnic group disparities and improve pain-related health outcomes.
