Inflammatory Pathways in Aortic Aneurysms

Description: PUBLIC HEALTH RELEVANCE: Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) are age-associated, life-threatening dilations of the abdominal aorta that are associated with a proteolytic and inflammatory remodeling of the vascular wall. No drugs have yet proven effective in preventing or limiting human AAA growth and this makes AAAs one of the few cardiovascular disorders for which there is no pharmacological therapy. Here we propose to investigate the role and the therapeutic potential of a new non-canonical Wnt signaling axis in the setting of AAA.
