Mitochondrial Permeability Transitionin Aging Muscle
Description: Project Narrative There are no effective treatments for the severe muscle atrophy that precipitates poor clinical outcomes including impaired mobility, physical frailty and increased mortality in advanced age. Our studies directly address this gap by testing the involvement of a novel mitochondrial mechanism of muscle atrophy that is relevant in advanced age when muscle impairment has its most serious consequences.
