Form-based Electronic Medical Record Management of Disease Using Guidelines: Challenges in Implementation and Generalization
Year: 2001
Type: article
Abstract: Chronic disease management using clinical guidelines has been an elusive goal. Guidelines have been implemented primarily in research and academic settings and only rarely in non-academic and community settings. As a result, four practices entered into a consortium to develop, implement, and evaluate the clinical utility and efficacy of a hypertension guideline. The practices were multi-specialty groups of small to large size (10 400 providers); some were based in one location, others ranged in coverage from one to two states.
