Abstract: The paper speaks of how the Madrid Metropolitan Area during the Eighties underwent a series ofchanges, one of which was the laying out of industrial estates to favour both industrial renovation and development. The paper details both the firms and activities that have set up on these estates and the nature of the estates themselves, drawing attention to the fact of their infra-occupation, the service office nature of much of this and the scant presence of productive industries there.
