Abstract: This report contains a general description of how to convert a rasterized image to vector file information, such as contour data, for cartographic plotting.The procedure is accomplished by executing computer system specific pro grams and scripts that are specific to the computer systems installed within this Branch of the United States Geological Survey.The generalized procedures may be a useful example that can be modified by other computer sites.A detailed example, with illustrations, of processing a specific data set is included
