Studying Technology Adoption Behaviors with Linear or Non-Linear PLS: Does it Make a Difference?

Year: 2011
Type: preprint
Abstract: In many studies the research is characterized by elements that make the analysis suited for partial least squares (PLS) path modeling techniques; nascent theories or measures, the model being tested incorporates formative constructs, smaller sample sizes, non-parametric data, and comparatively complex models. There are several PLS beta-test software programs available. This study used a model and sample suited for PLS path modeling and using two available programs, SmartPLS, and WarpPLS, compared the results. Differences were found in the results between the linear program (SmartPLS) and the non-linear program (WarpPLS). These findings have implications for the choice of software and ultimately the results obtained in testing this model.
