Abstract: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sobre el tema de la adherencia terapéutica valorando la repercusión que en lo personal y social tiene la conducta del incumplimiento terapéutico, concepto de adherencia terapéutica, modelo explicativo de lo que ella significa, métodos para su evaluación, factores que la determinan, estrategias para incrementarla y las investigaciones más recientes sobre esta temática A literature review was made on the adherence to therapy, taking into account the effect of the non-adherence to therapy from the social and personal viewpoints, the concept of adherence to therapy, explanatory model of what it means, assessment methods, determining factors, strategies to increase treatment compliance and the most recent research works on this topic
