Thinking in Circles: How National Geo-Information Infrastructures Cannot Escape from the Temptation of Technology
Year: 2011
Type: book-chapter
Abstract: National facilities for collection and dissemination of location-based (geo)- information (GI), now created worldwide, are expected to make government and business organizations more effective (Crompvoets 2006). Within organizations, geo-information is often managed with geographical information systems (GIS) technology and between organizations through national geoinformation infrastructures (NGIIs) (Rajabifard and Williamson 2001; Nebert 2004; De Bree and Rajabifard 2005; Masser 2005).
