Abstract: Loughborough University Librarians have become concerned that students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, over estimate their information literacy skills. Students therefore lack motivation to attend and interact during information literacy courses. This paper outlines how Loughborough University Library has tried to encourage postgraduate researchers to reflect on their information searching abilities through the use of checklists and online tests. Research postgraduate students then attend appropriate courses relating to their information literacy needs.
