Abstract: This article presents the results of an investigation into the reading habits of \nadolescents attending high school in Rio Grande-RS. Thus, we applied a questionnaire that asked the frequency of reading among young people, what they think about reading and how the contact occurs with written documents. The questionnaire took place in three schools and three private schools of secondary education, totaling 430 young people. It was found that adolescents have the reading habits and the type of school was not as decisive factor for the reading practices of adolescents surveyed.
