Abstract: The aim of this article is advance knowledge of sexism and its relationships with other variables, such as the concept of partner and gender violence, several components of emotional intelligence, and the understanding of emotions. The study was carried out with an incidental sample of 238 adolescents of 3rd and 4th year of compulsory secondary education, and 1st and 2nd year of baccalaureat (95 boys and 143 girls), with an age range from 14 to 18 years old. The participants responded to the following questionnaires: EQ-i (Bar- On, 2003); a scale of sexist beliefs developed for this study; a moral dilemma based on gender violence (Díaz-Aguado y Martínez Arias, 2001) and an interview on gender identity and sexism. The results show that although the boys justify sexism more, progress is observed in overcoming this problem, as they begin to consider equality between men and women when it comes to conceptualizing the relationship.
