La estructura de la poesía náhuatl vista por sus variantes
Year: 1980
Type: article
Abstract: This article explores the structure and variants of classical Nahuatl poetry, focusing on comparing different versions of poems found in collections such as the Cantares Mexicanos and the Romances. The authors analyze how copyists and interpreters modified the poems over time, emphasizing the significance of variants for understanding oral tradition and the texts' structural organization. Additionally, a method is proposed for reconstructing original versions to facilitate translation and analysis, highlighting the presence of fixed elements and variations in Nahuatl poetry. This study enhances the understanding of organizational principles and cultural identity within Mexican indigenous poetry
