Abstract: With the increasing accumulation of the nucleotide sequence data in both private and public databases, and the invention of more efficient computer-based tools, mining some valuable biological resources, such as microsatellites and SNPs, from the raw DNA data, has become one of the most popular areas of biological studies today, bioinformatics. Development of SSRs by data mining from sequence data is a relatively easy and cost-saving strategy for any organisms with enough DNA data. This is a very good example from data to knowledge, and from knowledge to basic and applied studies for biology, production, conservation and management of many organisms.
