Abstract: Huge competition in global markets and an insufficient supply of manual workers have together forced transnational corporations in Thailand to look for appropriate strategies to reduce labour costs and improve worker productivity. This study, therefore, examines factors influencing the work performance and organisational engagement of manual workers. For the research I randomly drew a sample of manual workers in a branch factory of a transnational food company to analyse their work performance, organisational engagement, and retention. The article finally suggests ways management can recruit manual labourers, improve their performance, and prolong their tenure with the organisation.
