Abstract: Jitter Estimation by Statistical Study (JESS) metric has been defined to analyze the Packet Delay Variation (PDV) generated by a piece of network equipment and to determine the number of nodes that can be cascaded between a Precision Time Protocol (PTP) packet master clock and a PTP packet slave clock.
