Don diego garcia de mendoza moctezuma : a techialoyan mastermind ?
Year: 1989
Type: article
Abstract: The document analyzes the figure of Don Diego García de Mendoza Moctezuma and his connection to possibly falsified genealogies and land titles in central Mexico. It explores his intention to enhance his prestige by claiming ancestral rights linked to ancient indigenous royal families, using Techialoyan manuscripts and other documents to support his claims. It also contextualizes this practice within the framework of territorial verifications carried out in indigenous communities during the 17th and 18th centuries, where the production of such titles responded to the necessity of securing properties and privileges before colonial authorities
