Abstract: Confirmatory factor analysis conducted in a\nsample of 706 children 7 to 16 years of age, 354\ngirls and 352 boys, revealed a 5-factor solution\n(Rejection, Corporal Punishment, Support,\nResponsiveness, Warmth). Results supported the\nmeasurement model of the Parental Practices\nScale for Children, which evaluates children�s\nperception of parental practices associated to\noffspring emotional adjustment. This finding\nwas replicated in a second study (N=233, 126 girls\nand 107 boys). The measure demonstrated good\ninternal consistency, and was further supported\nby convergent validity with an instrument built\nwith a similar objective. The measurement model\nsupported by results of both studies is consistent\nwith previous findings.
