The Rule of Law in Developing Countries is Not Just About Courts
Year: 2006
Type: preprint
Abstract: Rule of law development programs in post-conflict, post-socialist or other developing societies - with a particular focus on legal process tools - are typically doing excellent work. The theory animating these programs is essentially that without modern legal procedural regimes grounded in strong rule of law values, developing societies will be unable to advance other economic and social goals designed to improve the lives of their citizens and, ideally, bring them into the family of developed democracies.
