Abstract: Platelets interact with the coagulation factors in a complex way to arrest bleeding or generate thrombi. Recently, the platelet's relationship to endothelial alteration and atheroma production has received renewed attention. At present, tests of platelet function better define "hypocoagulable" rather than "hypercoagulable" states.
