Abstract: Currently, higher education is confronting urgent calls to return to its original mission of developing a well-informed, critically thinking, and civically engaged citizenry. Indeed, recent findings from the annual survey of entering college freshmen by the Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) several record low levels of student interest in keeping up to date with political affairs, discussing politics, or working on political campaigns.
