Abstract: Physical Activity Levels in Percutaneous Intracoronary Intervention Patients and the Factors Influencing These Levels Aim: The aim of the study was set to determine the physical activity levels in percutaneous coronary intervention patients and the factors influencing these levels. Method: The population of this descriptive study included 150 patients over 18 years of age who referred to the cardiology department of an university hospital and practice center between October 2009 and March 2010, had undergone percutaneous coronary intervention at least three months before the study and agreed to participate in the study. The data was collected with a “Personal Information Form” and the “International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ)”. Then, they were analyzed with Shapiro Wilk, One Way ANOVA Welch, Bonferronni and Games Howell, Pearson Chi-square and likelihood ratio chi-square tests and Student\\'s T test. Results: The study found that among the percutaneous coronary intervention patients, 72% were female and their mean age was 60±10.7 years. It also indicated that the patients spent their energy by walking at most and 56.7% of them were active at a normal level while 20% were highly active. However, there was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of levels of physical activity and blood pressure, cholesterol level and body mass index averages. Those who had a positive perception about their health status, followed diet recommendations and reside in urban areas were more active than the other groups. Moreover, it was determined that the individuals\\' physical activity levels decreased with the increasing age (p<0.05). Conclusions: The majority of the individuals in this study were physically active. The individuals\\' physical activity levels decreased with the increasing age. However, the physically active and inactive individuals had similar levels of clinical characteristics such as blood pressure, cholesterol levels and body mass index.
