The Anatomy of a Multisite ERP Implementation - A Romanian SME's Case Study
Year: 2006
Type: preprint
Abstract: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are enterprise wide systems that, because of their integration, automate all of a company's business processes. Because there is evidence that the overwhelming majority of ERP implementations exceed their budget and their time allocations, I begun to analyze ERP implementation in case studies in order to provide an implementation framework that maximizes efficiencies and knowledge on how to manage high-risk projects like ERP implementations. This paper conducts a review of a multisite Romanian SME's (small and medium sized enterprise) ERP implementation with focus on the software provider's implementation methodology and strategic choices, which affected the implementation process. The purpose of the study is to emphasize on the main project management problems that affect Romanian SME's ERP implementations and to provide solutions to avoid them and help developing corporate use of information technology.
